4Cs Home Ties Child Care Center is an IQ4K rated center nestled in the lower level of the First United Mennonite Church. Home Ties is a licensed center with spots for private pay and child care assistance.
Our Program
Home Ties is a wonderful place for young children to grow and learn in a nurturing and supportive environment! Home Ties has been in operation since 1995 and is licensed under the Department of Health and Human Services. We have a strong commitment to providing quality care in an environment that has a small, home-like feel with low teacher-to-child ratios, that supports individual attention and help children thrive. Nestled in the lower level of the First Mennonite Church, the center’s location is also ideal–close to UI Healthcare, The University Law School and Downtown Iowa City. We are also located near 2 City parks, which makes it easy to incorporate field trips and outdoor activities.

Our Philosophy
We believe that in the first five years, social-emotional development is the foundation for all future learning. That’s why our approach emphasizes secure relationships and the development of social skills that support a smooth transition to school.
Early Learning
We emphasize social-emotional development in the early years because it is a crucial aspect of preparing kids for success in school and life. Home Ties offers a well-rounded, thoughtful approach to early childhood education. Our teachers are well-informed on all aspects of brain development, behavioral benchmarks and best practices for working with students who may have adverse childhood experiences. Home Ties is a training ground for the childcare workforce and teachers working at Home Ties are highly trained. Parents whose children have attended Home Ties have nothing but glowing remarks about the staff and the school’s early learning environment.
